One of the most effective ways we have been able to connect with our community is through our public school.

Before the beginning of the school year we had a prayer walk throughout the school building.  This was done with the permission and blessing of our school officials.  Our church body met at the school following a Sunday morning service for prayer.  We prayed as we walked through each hallway, stopping at various points for focused prayer.

The women of our church sponsor a program called Moms In Touch.  We pray specifically for the faculty of the school.  Several times throughout the year we serve a meal in the teacher’s lounge.  The leader of Moms In Touch is the secretary to the High School Principal, and on many occasions she has been approached by a faculty member with specific prayer needs.

Several times during the school year our church hosts a student service called CRAVE.  We advertise in the school (we are allowed to hang signs on all of the lockers and to make daily public announcements) several weeks before the event and extend a personal invitation to the faculty.  We also designed CRAVE t-shirts and gave them away.  The service is held in the school cafeteria.  The turnout has been fantastic.  Following the service we host a pizza party and organized games in the gym.  There are also several give-aways (ipods, mp3 players, gift cards, etc.) This has been a very successful outreach.
